Foundations of Information Science
Over the last ten years, an international online discussion group, called Foundations of Information
Science (FIS),
has been conducting physical and electronic meetings that bring information theorists
together to discuss the concept of information.
The FIS initiative was started by Michael Conrad (Wayne State University) and Pedro Marijuan (University
of Zaragoza), with the cooperation of Koichiro Matsuno (Nagaoka University of Technology), and Tom Stonier
(Bradford University), author in 1990 of the pioneering book Information and the Internal Structure of the Universe.
The Institute has a collaborative partnership with FIS to promote the development of the science of information.
