Cooperation is the key to advancing the science of information. To enable this interaction, the Institute
invites individuals who are engaged in activities related to the science of information to become members. Members have the ability to participate in the development of the Institute through discussions of projects and activities and are granted access to more complete contact information for other members. Additionally, they will have full access to the Institute's archives and reference materials.
Please feel free to apply as a member even if you are just beginning your interest in this new and exciting field. There is great room for this deepen and expand as our discussions mature and our numbers expand. Do not hesitate to ask about the topics and suggest expansions and ideas.

Membership Categories
- Student/Retired: not currently employed, and developing country's members who are willing to participate in our field. $20 membership fee.
- Regular Member: indicates an interest in the institute, its activities, purposes, and is willing to contribute intellectual and creative efforts to advancing the field. $50 membership fee.
Honors Granted by the Board
- Honorary Membership: Those who regularly donate services, talent and time.
- Information Activist Honors: Those who are actively contributing and advancing the field through a combination of subject knowledge with thoughtful focused support and action. (Given yearly for a specific year, must already have been a member for at least one year).
- Fellow Honors: Those who make a significant or noteworthy or outstanding contribution to the science of information field. (Given for lifetime achievement, may or may not be current members).
- Principal Honors: Those who make financial investment contributions to the Institute.
