Vision Statement

The Science of Information Institute seeks to become known as the premiere organization responsible for promoting, facilitating, coordinating, and contributing to basic research in the field of Information as a science.

Mission Statement
  1. The Science of Information Institute will bring together the individuals, activities and organizations
    engaged in research in the area of the science of information for the purpose of stimulating creative
    thought, transdisciplinary research, and usable development.
  2. The Science of Information Institute will strive to focus on the intersections between the various
    intellectual/academic realms in the science of information including a) scientific and academic,
    b) societal, cultural, economic and governmental, c) business and commercial for-profit and
    not-for-profit users and d) end users of the information of science.
  3. Through a worldwide network of practicing scientists and organizations, the Science of Information
    Institute will identify key questions and projects that center around the science of information.
    The Institute will host periodic network discussions, meetings, and conferences to bring together
    the leading thinkers and researchers in the various areas of interest in the science of information.
  4. The Science of Information Institute will assist in promoting recognition of and developmental
    support for the science of information.
